Présentation de la thèse

The importance of services is rising because of a social change towards a service society and ever new service innovations. Services often lack technical content. In order to capture simultaneously non-technical and technical innovation, I analyse trademark data as a basis for innovation indicators to answer the questions how innovations develop, diffuse and evolve per topic and over time. At first, the potential of trademarks as opposed to patents is examined with modern data analytic methods. Then, the relationship between service and product innovation is analysed. Lastly, the diffusion of innovation among different intellectual property rights is of interest to gain insights on the question of science-technology push and market pull.
